The Diving Bell and The Butterfly is in your face

5 second plot: The real life story of Jean-Dominique Bauby, big time editor of Elle magazine, who has a massive stroke and is paralyzed from head to toe. He can only move his left eye. With the help of some amazing people, he learns to communicate and even writes a book.

5 second review: All the people in this movie are so close to the camera, I'm glad I didn't have to see this in a big theater, because I did not always feel comfortable. But that's the idea of course. It's an amazing story. Especially the fact that he found a way to keep his spirit up. And the fact that he made some new friends, who treated him like a king.

Two and a Half Men Season 5

5 second plot: Charlie still gets the hotties and Alan the notties. However, Alan sometimes gets lucky. But then he takes advice from Charlie. The kid is also taking his first steps with the ladies.

5 second review: Very funny, very smart dialogue and very chill. Bertha is the max and the halfling is hilarious. This is a straight A. It does not get any funnier than this.

Into The Wild is a fantastic journey

5 second plot: This is the true story of Christopher, a smart young guy who, after his graduation, gives away all his money and takes off for a trip through the country. With a focus on surviving on his own in the wild. On his journey he meets (and touches the lives of) a lot of interesting people.

5 second review: This is a beautiful tale about a fantastic journey. What an amazing performance in an amazing movie. By the end I was really rooting for him to make it out alive. All things considered: I still think I'm going out for a long walk through the woods tomorrow. And I'm not sticking to the main road.

Bug is nuts

5 second plot: Agnes has got a tough life. She's living in a motel, working at a bar and her dangerous ex just got out of jail and is probably up to no good. Then one day Agnes meets a stranger, Peter. He's a special guy. He 'picks up on things'. And then all of a sudden they start finding very small bugs in their home. They try to figure out what's going on.

5 second review: It takes more than an hour to get nasty. But when it does, it will make you want to look away. It's that nasty. But having to wait an hour is too long. And frankly, the climax is very very big, but it's not satisfying. It's a really weird story that leaves you hanging with an uncomfortable feeling at the end.

The Prestige is not my kind of trick

5 second plot: This story is set at the end of the 19th century. Two magicians go to extreme lengths in their competition with each other. People get hurt and people get killed. But they don't seem to care, they just want to know each other's secrets. And be the best.

5 second review: I really don't like water tricks. And I never like the fact that there is no-one to root for. And I didn't buy the story at all. It felt like I was watching a movie with a weight on my shoulders. Only the final trick is pretty good. But that involved the Tesla duplication, and that's not magic, that's science fiction. I can't understand why everyone loves this film so much.

Two and a Half Men Season 4

5 second plot: Some things never change, some things do. Jake is growing up fast, Alan doesn't get as much action as in the previous season but does manage to get rid of one alimony obligation and Charlie gets drunk and dates a lot of women.

5 second review: The half one is becoming the funniest one on the show. This season is filled with beautiful women and there are a couple of very interesting celebrity appearances.

Life on Mars Season 1 Episode 1-3

5 second plot: Sam gets hit by a car in 2006 while listening to the song ‘Life On Mars’ and wakes up in 1973. He thinks he is in a coma and that his subconscious is playing tricks with him, but he’s not really sure. He continues to do what he does best: being a cop and catching bad guys. But police work in 1973 was a bit different compared to 2006.

5 second review: Gene Hunt is the real star of the show. He's a though mofo, shouting trash and sweet '70s style politically incorrect cop talk. He's hitting suspects, planting evidence, laughing with disabled people,... but he actually means well. He just wants his town to be safe.

Serenity is solid

5 second plot: Earth could no longer sustain the ever growing human population, so humanity jumped ship and looked for a bigger place. Not everything is peaches and cream in this new place. This is the story of the crew of the Serenity, a group of small time hustlers. The ones that only steal from the people that deserve it. But now they are carrying a cargo that is of great value for the big guns. And these big boys want their asset back.

5 second review: The story is solid, the characters and the ideas behind the new world are spectacular and it's a lot of fun. But it's not really top notch stuff special effects wise. And that's a bit of a shame.

Disaster! must have been fun to make

5 second plot: A spoof of Armageddon mostly, but all natural disaster movies in general are put in the mix.

5 second review: It's with puppets, it's not very well done, it's completely over the top but it is very funny from time to time. Heads are chopped off, puppets are having sex, showing their boobs, shitting themselves,... stuff like that.

Memories of Murder is surprisingly free spirited

5 second plot: A serial killer is brutally raping and killing young women in a town in South Korea. A special detective from the big city is working together with the local detectives to find the killer. They have a lot of suspects, but can't find the evidence to link any of them to the crimes.

5 second review: The really clumsy and back to basics ass kicking detective work is often very funny (the way one cop always jumps up and kicks everyone in the face) but at the same time really sad (they also kick the ass of a mentally challenged young fellow). It's a very open minded film. Which I didn't really expect from a South Korean production.
