Science Fiction Volume One: The Osiris Child is nothing new
5 second plot: There's been an outbreak of self-bred killer monsters on a colonized planet (we're in the future by the way). A military man has got somewhat less than 24 hours to save his family before the planet is destroyed (as a containment precaution).
5 second review: The sci-fi stuff is not bad for a low budget movie. The big set pieces are filmed from a distance or in a bit of a blur, but that's still okay. Some things weren't given enough thought though. Like prison guards with very impractical armor (it had to be cool, not practical, I guess). There's nothing new, nothing original, so why waste your time creating a small budget movie like this? There's no added value.

The Hitman's Bodyguard is simple fun
5 second plot: Ryan Renolds is a world class bodyguard who has to get Samuel L. Jackson’s world class hit man safely to The Hague to testify against a war criminal.
5 second review: This is a good old fashioned simple uncomplicated team-up action comedy. If ask yourself too many questions while watching this movie it’s very likely you will not make it through it without throwing something at the screen. But if you just go with the flow, you’ll have a great time.

The Dark Tower is not as epic as expected
5 second plot: A tower (a dark one) stands in the middle of the universe. It keeps evil things out of our world (and other worlds). A child's mind can destroy it. Evil dude Walter is kidnapping kids from all over the world to try and take it down. Enter Jake, the kid that can probably destroy it. And Roland, the gunslinger that will do anything to prevent that from happening.
5 second review: It's good, but I was expecting a 2,5 hour epic movie and this is just a tiny part of that. Which makes it feel incomplete or more like an episode of a TV show. Matthew McConaughey is on a roll though as the evil Man in Black. The visuals are good except for a run-in with a weird creature half way through the movie.

London Heist is a bit heavy
5 second plot: Jack is a tough criminal who specializes in armed robberies. When his dad is murdered and his retirement money disappears, Jack is determined to find and punish the men responsible.
5 second review: This is a very cool gangster movie with an awesome bad-ass hero (on the wrong side of the law but we're still rooting for him). But it's a bit heavy on drama for my taste. A movie like this should be more fun, unless it's a true story.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is very elaborate
5 second plot: Valerian and Laureline are two agents of the cosmos (I'm not sure if that's the right description, but something like that.) who get sucked into a whole lot of action after they retrieve a very special item on their last mission.
5 second review: I thought I would be complaining about the overload of worlds, creatures and computer graphics and although it does get 'cartoony' from time to time it didn't bother me at all. On the contrary. It's a work of love and you can feel it throughout the movie. The amount of detail is extraordinary. What I loved the most is the chemistry between the main characters. It's a perfect team-up.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is fun
5 second plot: This time it's not Spider-Man: the Origin Story but Spider-Man: in School. He's a kid (15 years old) waiting (desperately) for a call from Iron Man to assemble. In the meantime he uses his cool suit to keep the neighborhood friendly. But when the Vulture, an alien tech weapons dealer, crosses his path, the bar gets raised.
5 second review: It's a fun movie, with great visual effects and Tom Holland is a very good teenage Spider-Man. But why is Iron Man constantly crashing the party? Spider-Man is a self-made dude, not Iron Man's bitch.

Baby Driver rules
5 second plot: Baby is a getaway driver. He's very young, but he's the best in the business. He doesn't want to be a criminal, but he can't seem to get out. When he falls in love, things get complicated.
5 second review: It doesn't happen very often that you get to see a movie so cool and slick that you want to watch it again right after you saw it. This is one of those movies. Jamie Foxx's character is the only false note, everything else is film fan heaven.

Transformers: The Last Knight is nuts
5 second plot: Humans and Transformers have to work together once again to save the world. Marky Mark gets insider information from Anthony Hopkins on the secret history of the Transformers. It appears that they were already here in the time of King Arthur. And that they saved our butts more times than we can count.
5 second review: What can I say that hasn't been said already about Michael Bay's movies? It's a big incomprehensible action extravaganza. I was already confused beyond repair after 10 minutes. But it's a cool slick (chaotic) action movie filled with robots, chases and explosions. So if you're into that: go for it.

The Mummy is a great adventure
5 second plot: Tom Cruise accidentally wakes up an ancient evil (but quite pretty) mummy and it seems that he is her 'chosen one'. But that means she's going to try to put a dagger in his chest.
5 second review: It's such a fun, mysterious, action packed adventure that it made me think of the original Indiana Jones movies. The effects are great and the mummy is awesome. The story does slow down a little bit too often and it doesn't always make sense (why make it so easy to release her from her prison?) but overall still pretty great.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is silly fun
5 second plot: Jack teams up with youngsters Henry and Carina to look for the trident of Poseidon while being hunted down by the cursed Captain Salazar.
5 second review: This is a fun and exciting adventure filled with great visuals. But you can not take it too seriously, because it's all a bit silly. For instance, they try to steal a vault but end up towing the entire bank through the town Fast and Furious-style. With horses.

Wonder Woman ain't afraid of no accent
5 second plot: It's the origin story of Wonder Woman. From her time as a child and her training to become a warrior to her first big battle in the real world.
5 second review: It feels painfully wrong to set a light (and silly) story in a horrible and serious time period. But I guess: thank God Wonder Woman was there to stop WWI. I hate it when a big budget movie has Germans speaking English with a German accent because they think we're too stupid to read subtitles. Especially when they try very hard to ground the movie in the real world. Speaking of accents: as a child Diana speaks perfect American English, but as she grows older she develops a heavy accent. What's up with that? I'll stop complaining now and end on an important positive note: Gal Gadot is PERFECT as Wonder Woman.

Baywatch is terrible fun
5 second plot: Three new recruits are training to be a Baywatch lifeguard. When the team discovers that a criminal mastermind (actually just a bad Bond villain wannabee) is trying to take over the bay, the training is put on hold.
5 second review: What can I say. It's a whole lot of bullshit. And the shit-pile gets bigger and bigger until it eventually gets too big and collapses under its own weight. But still, I laughed my ass off and actually had a fun time watching it. That says more about me than about the movie.

Free Fire is slick
5 second plot: A weapons deal turns into a shoot-out.
5 second review: An entire movie about a shoot-out? Yep. But it doesn't get boring at all. It's fun, slick and has some of the craziest dialogue I've heard in a long time. Simple cool action, that's more than good enough for me. I didn't have to switch my brain on or nothing. Great cast too, by the way.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 is lots of fun
5 second plot: The Guardians try to help where they can in the Galaxy. When Rocket does something stupid they get into a whole lot of trouble. Also in this volume: Peter meets his dad. And Baby Groot is growing up and learning from the best.
5 second plot: There isn't much of a story. We're just following the Guardians around as they go about their business. There are a lot more tears and touchy-feely moments in this second volume and that's not really my thing. But there's also much more humor. It's not always smart or sophisticated, but there's something about these characters that make me laugh my ass off. So I had a lot of fun.

The Lost City of Z is a good biography
5 second plot: This is the true-life story of Percy Fawcett, a man who spent his entire life looking for a lost city (maybe even a lost city of gold) in the Amazonian jungle.
5 second review: I guess it's a good biography but it's not very entertaining as a movie. The only thing that kept my spirits up was the fact that I was going to see an incredible discovery. Spoiler alert (seriously, if you want to see the movie, do not read on): I didn't get to see jack shit. They probably never found the bloody city. What a waste of my precioussss time.

The Fate of the Furious is loads of fun
5 second plot: This time it's Dom against his own team because an international criminal has got him by the balls. With world peace at stake, everyone needs to step up his/her game.
5 second review: The Rock is a fucking monster. The Stath is a fucking ninja. Charlize is a bit of a drama queen. The action sequences are awesome. The team working together (and bitching at one another) is loads of fun. The dialogue is shit (except for the bitching), but you don't get a chance to really notice because there's always a car chase, ass kicking and/or explosion behind the corner.

Colossal is weird
5 second plot: Gloria has got a drinking problem. She goes back to her old neighborhood to sort things out. And then she finds out that she is somehow connected to a monster that's roaming the streets of Seoul.
5 second review: I don't know who came up with this crazy idea or who had the balls to greenlit it, but I definitely do not know what they are trying to tell us. Either someone lost their mind halfway through the movie or someone didn't know what to do next and only had 60 minutes worth of film and started randomly making stuff up. I sure as hell don't know what to make of this. Please don't tell me this is a lesson on the dangers of addiction.

Ghost in the Shell is very cool
5 second plot: A young woman's brain is successfully transplanted into a mechanical body. The result is a bad ass soldier called 'Major'. On one of her missions she encounters a mysterious hacker. This encounter leads to her questioning her own existence.
5 second review: Scarlett looks awesome, the hacker is cool, the world looks the way it should look (in my opinion), the cybertech shit and stuff is solid and the action is good. There could have been a little bit more action and little less walking around though. And there's some seriously shitty CGI in the final showdown.

The Belko Experiment is quite entertaining
5 second plot: All employees of the Belko company are suddenly locked up in their building. They've got 2 hours to kill 30 people or 60 will die.
5 second review: I think almost every stereotype I could possibly imagine is in this movie. For instance: the sleeping security guard. It's a crazy story, but the actors are okay and it is actually quite entertaining. If you're into crazy shit.
IMDb score: 6,2/10

Kong: Skull Island is too much
5 second plot: A team of scientists, soldiers and monster hunters (and a photographer (they just needed an excuse to bring Brie Larson along on their trip)) want to go explore a newly discovered island. But the big creatures on this island want to eat them for breakfast.
5 second review: I don't like it when they try to explain the things happening in a movie like this scientifically. It's a monster movie, man. We'll just go with the flow. However, in this case everything is so overly exaggerated that it's simply too much. There's big and there's too big. Also, make up your mind about which emotion you want us to go along with: one minute dead people are flying around, the next there's a picknick. Anyway: thank God they brought Brie Larson to the party.
