The LEGO Batman Movie is cool

5 second plot: Batman, the coolest crime fighting superhero on the planet, slowly starts to realize that he's a little bit lonely. He's always fighting crime alone and he could use a good team-up.

5 second review: It's cool, funny and visually stunning. The movie starts with a big bang and you silently hope that this gigantic ball of energy will keep exploding for the entire duration of the movie. But of course: that's impossible.

Sausage Party is definitely not for kids

5 second plot: Every vegetable, sausage, bun, cornflakes,... in the supermarket thinks it's going to 'the great beyond' once they get out the door. A sausage figures out the truth. You know, that they are getting whacked.

5 second review: Do not take your kids to this movie. Otherwise you are going to have a lot of explaining to do. It's foul-mouthed, raunchy and filled with nice and sweet groceries that are getting gruesomely killed. It's almost unbelievable that a movie like this can get greenlit. And that's what I like most about it.

The Secret Life of Pets is too nuts

5 second plot: Two dogs get lost in the big city. Their friends start a search and rescue.

5 second review: Little kids will enjoy the movie. I had to laugh a bit a couple of times but I was expecting it to be more out loud. Instead of telling a simple adventure story about normal pets (and their extraordinary secret lives), the focus suddenly switches to crazy pets that live in the city's underworld. The plot spirals totally out of control. It goes completely nuts and turns into a big mess.

Zootropolis is good innocent fun

5 second plot: Judy is the first bunny cop in the city of Zootropolis. Her boss and colleagues don't have a lot of confidence in her. But when several animals mysteriously disappear Judy might be just the type of cop they need to crack the case.

5 second review: This is really for kids. But the adults that have to tag along will enjoy it as well. There are a couple of moments where it might get scary for little kids (animals going crazy with red eyes) but overall it's sweet, innocent and fun.

Star Wars Rebels Season 2 Episode 1: The Siege of Lothal

5 second plot: Vader wants to squeeze Lothal (Ezra’s home planet) until someone spills the beans on where the rebels are. Our small team of rebels is now part of the official rebel fleet. They go to Lothal to save a minister of the Empire who has fallen from grace. But when they get there, they run into Darth Vader. And they quickly realize he’s out of their league.

5 second review: I don’t understand the point of a season premiere in June if the season will only really start in October. But I’m not complaining. Vader is awesome. He’s all powerful, taking the entire rebel fleet on by himself. I don’t think he will be returning a lot in the rest of the season because he's simply too powerful at this moment.

Inside Out is amazing

5 second plot: We get an inside look in the mind of a young girl, as her emotions run wild when she has to move with her parents to San Francisco.

5 second review: This movie is like a lesson in visually creative storytelling. I can't believe how they pulled it off to tell a beautiful story like this and make it comprehensible for young kids. And on top of that, it's also amusing for adults. I had to laugh out loud a couple of times. The conclusion feels a bit rushed though. While the challenges before the conclusion take a bit too long.

Home is too basic

5 second plot: Earth is overrun by a friendly alien race. All humans have been reallocated to new fake homes while the aliens take over the real world. Tip was left behind. She teams up with Oh, an alien on the run from his own people, to find her mom. And maybe save the planet.

5 second review: Thank god I took my kids to see this one (they loved it), because this movie did not amuse me one bit. It feels like the sole purpose of the movie is to make money out of fluffy merchandising and to promote Rihanna songs. The story is very thin (and boring), the characters are not fleshed out at all and the animation is too basic. The only thing that works are the colors. Like when Oh is lying and he turns green but doesn't realize it.

Penguins of Madagascar do what they do best

5 second plot: Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private are penguins with amazing skills. Together they can take on the world. For this adventure they team up with The North Wind to stop an evil octopus named Dave.

5 second review: It's not that I laughed my ass off from beginning to end, but there is some very original funny stuff happening throughout the movie. A lot of this funniness is already in the trailer, but luckily it's repeat-viewing-proof.

Big Hero 6 is a whole lot of fun

5 second plot: Hiro is a very smart young fella who's very interested in robotics. He teams up with Baymax, an inflatable health-care robot and a group of friends to fight a super-villain with evil plans.

5 second review: This is a great story about friendship and doing the right thing. The movie works best for a kid's mind and imagination because as an adult it felt like a little bit 'much' from time to time. But still, it's awesome fun. Tip of the day: there's a great cameo after the end credits.

Star Wars Rebels Season 1 is fun

5 second plot: This is the story of a team of rebels that really despises the Empire. They try to save as many people as they can from its clutches. They often have to save each other as well. And they try to hit the Empire where it hurts. The good news is that they’ve got two Jedi in their midst: a master and a padawan. The bad news is that they live in a time when the Empire is very powerful and very evil.

5 second review: Rebels is really for kids. It’s very playful. But if you’re a real Star Wars fan, you won’t mind. And it’s fun. For instance: they steal a TIE fighter and paint it very colorful. But then they need it to get in an enemy battleship unnoticed. With the colorful fighter. They've also got a great droid with an awesome personality. The animation is better than Clone Wars, only the Wookies and Lando (yes! Lando!) look very weird. The last two minutes of the season are very exciting. Ahsoka returns and so does the big guy all dressed in black. What’s his name again?

How To Train Your Dragon 2 is quite an adventure

5 second plot: Hiccup and Toothless are all grown up now. They are flying out, trying to discover new worlds. And they sure do. Hiccup meets his mom who has been rescuing dragons for the last 20 years. But he also meets an evil man who wants to conquer the world. And will spare no man or dragon to get what he wants.

5 second review; The dragons are really funny and just awesome. Not all humans are as convincing. I needed some time to get used to Hiccup. His voice is not a very good match. And I especially disliked his dad singing. But hey, this is mostly an action packed, surprising and tense movie, so overall very much okay. Oh, and Hiccup's got a lightsaber. Extra points.

Rio 2 is a challenge pile-up

5 second plot: Our beautiful blue birds find out that they've got family living in the rain forest. Life over there is a lot different than the city life they are used to. The family has to stick together to take on a whole bunch of challenges coming their way.

5 second review: Funny and spectacular, that's for sure. It sometimes looks like a genuine Bollywood production. On the other hand there are way too many challenges for the poor Blu and some scenes are stretched out too long. They feel like they are only there to add minutes to the running time.

Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher is packed with action

5 second plot: A big criminal organisation has stolen SHIELD technology to create a new type of weapon. Black Widow and Punisher team up to stop them. But they find out the problem is even bigger than they thought.

5 second review: Punisher is quite the bad ass isn't he. His ultra-violent fighting skills are pretty cool. The visuals are tight, the voices are good and the action is packed. There is one small part in the middle where the plot is explained (too) extensively, but other than that this is a pretty entertaining movie.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 6 ends with a touch of hope

5 second plot: First there is a problem with a clone trooper that accidentally carries out order 66 and kills a Jedi. Then there's trouble with the banking clan. Next up: Jar Jar pops up to save a queen. After that the Jedi pick up an old signal from Sifo Dyas (the one that gave the order to create the clone army). Yoda has to go on a spiritual journey to solve the big mystery surrounding this.

5 second review: They sure did know how to end the season, but it seems like they ran out of ideas for the rest of the season. So it starts off a bit boring and not very interesting. But we do get some great Windu and Yoda light-saber fights and the final episodes are a good addition to the big picture.

The Lego Movie is big fun

5 second plot: Emmet is a simple construction worker in the Lego universe. He is thought to be 'The Special': the one to defeat evil President Business who wants to destroy the free Lego world.

5 second review: Beautiful, fantastic, fun, great,... I mostly enjoyed the huge amount of popular culture references. A shame that they have to ground all that fun by stupidly explaining that Lego is just a toy, managed by humans.

Khumba misses its target

5 second plot: Khumba is a young zebra with only half a set of stripes. His herd thinks he will bring them bad luck. And sure enough, a little bit later, it stops raining. Khumba goes on a quest to find a magical pond to get himself a full set of stripes.

5 second review: This should be a fun movie. Just look at the trailer: that was the idea, right? Why oh why, then, is there so much melodrama in here combined with too much scary stuff and life lessons no kid can understand without an adult explaining it to him/her? A little bit of a miss-fire this one...

Frozen has got a lot of singing in it

5 second plot: Anna and Elsa are princesses. They have been locked up inside their castle all their lives because Elsa's got magical powers she can't control. The day Elsa is crowned queen she accidentally unleashes her powers and covers the kingdom in ice and snow. Anna goes after her with the help of some new friends.

5 second review: This is mostly a kids film. Although not for the really little ones, because there is a crazy snow monster in here that will scare the bejeezus out of them. I'm personally not a big fan of the singing. But I am a fan of the great adventure and the funny moose. And the funny snowman of course.

Patema Inverted is a boring beauty

5 second plot: Patema is a very curious young girl living in an underground comunity. On one of her secret missions to a forbidden place she falls in a deep shaft and ends up in another world. Only this world is upside down for her. And she's upside down for them.

5 second review: It's a beautiful story about all the things that really matter in the world and it's told with a great eye for detail. Too bad it's a bit slow and not the big adventure it could have been.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 5 needs some time to kick in

5 second plot: Darth Maul and his brother hook up with Deathwatch to create a new galactic underworld. It takes Darth Sidious himself to stop them. Also in this season we get a lot of information on Jedi rituals, we see the Jedi helping rebels, get to meet lots of pirates and we also see public opinion swinging against the Jedi. And slowly but surely the dark side is taking control.

5 second review: The first half of this season feels like the writers ran out of ideas. But the second half gets really interesting. Especially when the supreme bad ass cleans house. The season finale is the best one yet, as Ahsoka makes a bold decision.
