Game of Thrones Season 5 Episode 3: High Sparrow

5 second plot: Arya is mostly sweeping the floor. The royal wedding is a fact. The queen mom looks like she's going to explode. The crazy Bolton is going marry Sansa. The new Lord Commander of the Night's Watch shows everyone they better obey his orders. Cersei pays a visit to the High Sparrow, the leader of a religious movement on the rise. Tyrion is still on his way. But he stops to take a look around. Maybe not such a good idea.

5 second review: Nothing new to report here: still very solid stuff.

The Age of Adaline is candy sweet

5 second plot: Adeline was born in 1908, she got into a freakish car accident a couple of decades later and since then she doesn't age anymore. She moves and changes her identity every 10 years so people won't notice she's not getting older. She lives very much by herself. Until one day she meets Ellis.

5 second review: This is totally not a sci-fi movie but instead it's a pure sweet romance. Blake Lively is amazing as Adeline. She makes this character glow with her radiant beauty and a feel of a 100 year old sweetness.

Just Before I Go is sweet

5 second plot: Ted is sick of his life and decides to kill himself. First he goes back to his hometown to set a couple of records straight. But to his surprise he finds out there might be some people there that will actually miss him.

5 second review: I didn't know if this movie was going to be sad or funny. But soon enough the cheap jokes start coming. And I don't mind that the jokes are cheap, I'm still laughing my ass off. As a sort of counterweight the movie also touches a couple of serious subjects. This combination doesn't work all the time.  But mostly it does.

Game of Thrones Season 5 Episode 2: The House of Black and White

5 second plot: Arya reaches her destination but it's unsure that she will find what she is looking for. Brienne and Pod find Sansa. But (just like her sister) she doesn't want Brienne's help. Someone wants to revenge Oberyn's death and they seem to be looking in the direction of Cersei's daughter. So Jaime is dispatched to save the day. A new Lord Commander of the Night's Watch is chosen. Daenerys finds White Rat's killer but nothing seems to want to go as it should. Things might get better now that an old friend has returned.

5 second review: I'm very curious about Oberyn's family. If they are half as cool as he was, then we're in for a treat. A lot of main characters seem to be dispatched to the far reaches of the GoT world. It will be interesting to see how all the separate stories will start to intertwine.

Good Kill is small story set in a big world

5 second plot: Tom is an F16 fighter pilot who is now operating drones. He blows away Taliban fighters from his air-conditioned container one hour and goes home to barbecue the next. He is struggling really hard and he's not doing very well at trying to be a normal husband and father. And then things get worse when his unit has to take out targets for the CIA.

5 second review: It's a very personal story about a good guy who is forced to do things he doesn't want to do. But this small personal story is set in a big scale wake-up call. Ethan Hawke does an amazing job balancing on the edge of (not) flipping out and January Jones is great as his patient wife.

The Messengers Season 1 Episode 1-2

5 second plot: When an extra planetary object hits the earth it sends out a shock-wave that kills 5 people: a student, a preacher, a mom, a scientist and a cop. They wake up a couple of minutes later. They are all drawn to a hospital in Houston. When they get there they find out that... (drum-roll) God is angry.

5 second review: It's not very good, but it's not terrible, it's just a bit cheap and doesn't look very professional. The mysterious aspects got me interested in finding out what this is all about. I had a feeling that I was going to be disappointed. And then the ridiculous announcement comes that 'God is angry'. That was my queue to get the hell (see what I did here) out of there.

IMDb score: 7,4/10

The Dead Lands is seriously authentic

5 second plot: When a young boy's peaceful tribe gets slaughtered, he teams up with the monster living in the dead lands to avenge his people.

5 second review: This is not a blockbuster revenge movie, this is probably how it would really go down in a tribe like this. The spoken language is Maori, it does not get more authentic than that. It looks awkward and weird at first but in the end it's an amazing story about setting the record straight. Even if all the odds are against you.

Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 is intended sillyness

5 second plot: Paul goes to a security guard convention in Las Vegas with his daughter. An evil criminal is trying to steal art from the hotel he is staying in. Obviously the two are on an inevitable head on collision course.

5 second review: The happy ending of the first movie goes down the drain in seconds. I really hate it when they do that. Often that's just an excuse to do the first movie all over again. And it is, basically. But they pull the other trick out of the hat too: set the first movie in another location. Bingo: Las Vegas. It's all really silly but you kind of know that before you start watching this, right?

Avengers: Age of Ultron is perfect

5 second plot: Stark accidentally creates Ultron, an artificial intelligence that wants the Avengers dead. This is not an ordinary robot. It's super-advanced and the boys and girls of the Avenger-team get their asses kicked really bad. They will need help if they want to catch this bogey.

5 second review: This is why I love the movies. I never thought this second one would be as good as the first one. But it is. It's the same vibe: action-packed, fun and relaxed with a nice touch of good old Captain America values. I loved every minute of it.

Game of Thrones Season 5 Episode 1: The Wars to Come

5 second plot: Cersei and Jaime mourn the death of their father. Tyrion is on the run. He arrives at his destination and finds out that he's part of a bigger picture. Miss Targaryen is losing her grip on the city she didn't conquer. And the dragons hate her guts. Stannis wants to take back the North with the help of the wildlings and he asks Jon to convince their leader to bow for him.

5 second review: Holy shit, I totally forgot where we were in the story. But thanks to this great first episode of the fifth season, I'm back in business. Great story development, great visuals and I just love all that king and queen talk. 'I'm not a politician, I'm a queen.' (And queens don't do compromise, alright?.)

IMDb score: 8,6/10

Lost River is random weirdness

5 second plot: Billy is a mom with two kids. They are living in an town where everyone who could leave, has already left. She's not able to pay the bank so she takes on a new (weird) job. Her teenage son Bones is stealing copper to get some money but he entered someone else's territory and this guy's pissed off. But then Bones finds an underwater city. This might be his chance to lift the curse on his town.

5 second review: I was willing to give this movie a chance. I heard that it was not good. But I tried. I really did. It felt like I was watching some randomly put together weird images. And if it were happy go lucky, then it might have been okay. But it's deep and sad. And that made it even worse for me.

Daredevil Season 1 Episode 1-2

5 second plot: Matt loses his eyesight in a car crash when he's a kid. He develops extremely heightened senses and uses these, together with mad fighting skills, to make the world (well, Hell's Kitchen for starters) a better place. But he's up against some very well organised evil thugs.

5 second review: I think I like this Daredevil. He takes his sweet time to get fired up (I guess they realized upfront that they've got an entire season to fill) and a couple of illogical choices are obviously made to keep the story going, but when he's helping other people and kicking ass, it's awesome. The choreography of the fights is some of the best I've ever seen. And! Big bonus! Deborah Ann Woll and Rosario Dawson in one show.

IMDb score: 9,2/10
Our score: 8,5/10

Ex Machina is scary real

5 second plot: Caleb is invited to his eccentric boss' house to test a very advanced artificial intelligence. The test is: could this machine pass for human. But Caleb soon finds out that someone might be playing tricks on him.

5 second review: This is a visually stunning, cool and stylish movie. It's scary in a way that they're talking about the same search engines we've got today. Collecting data and doing shit with this data we don't (want to) know. But we should. It's also one of those great who-can-we-trust-movies with some nice twists.

Last Knights is all about honor

5 second plot: Lord Bartok rises up against an evil minister of the emperor. And loses his head in the process. His right hand, friend and commander Raiden does not take this well and slides down a path of self destruction, losing everything he has and is in the process.

5 second review: There are some good characters in here but most of them are not. The emperor is a good example of 'not'. The second act of the movie with the commander feeling sorry for himself is just stupid, boring and it takes way too long. The battles in the third act make up for this a little bit though.
