The Longest Week looks familiar

5 second plot: Conrad is a 40-year old guy who lives off of his parents' wealth. One day they cut him off. All of a sudden he is broke and homeless. He's got a good friend who lets him stay in his house. But then Conrad falls in love with the woman his friend was already interested in. And things get complicated.

5 second review: I seriously thought I was watching a Woody Allen movie. The setting, the talks, the backgrounds, the hotel lobby music,.. the style is identical. Or is this just me? The first part of the movie is pretty great. But then suddenly the fun is over and there doesn't seem to be anything interesting left to say. Thank god Olivia Wilde was there to lighten the mood.

The Remaining is a promo for God

5 second plot: A group of friends is having a good time on a wedding when all of a sudden people start dropping dead for no apparent reason. They figure out quite quickly that it must be 'the rapture'. This is an event where God pulls all the believers' souls to heaven. And the rest of humanity is screwed basically.

5 second review: There are some good special effects in here and some spectacular action sequences. But it seems like they couldn't decide whether to make a found footage movie or a blockbuster movie. So the quality of the film is somewhere in between and that's just not good. Also, if you're not a big fan of God promo, you might want to skip this one. Because they say 'I choose God' a lot.

Falcon Rising is pretty terrible

5 second plot: An American tough guy travels to Rio de Janeiro to find (and hurt) the guys that almost killed his sister.

5 second review: Man, these Yakuza dudes pop up everywhere nowadays. Jesus. This is a straight to DVD action movie like the ones from back in the day. Only this one's not very good. I can't seem to find one single positive thing to say about it.

Extant Season 1 Episode 11: A New World

5 second plot: Dead bodies keep piling up. The offspring doesn't like to feel threatened, so it seems. Sparks and his wife are still helping it. Molly is also in pursuit. We find out more about Yasumoto. He is a really old fella who is running out of magical life juice. He very much wants to get a hold of the offspring's power. And he'll do anything to get it.

5 second review: I'm just hoping that the conclusion of this season will not be a disappointment. Because I can already feel it... They keep the viewer out of the loop for way too long. This only makes my expectation grow even larger. But it could mean that they don't know what they're doing and we will be left with a bummer (or even will simply be left hanging). I have a bad feeling about this.

Black Sails Season 1 Episode 1: I.

5 second plot: It's the story of a group of pirates wreaking havoc in 1715.

5 second review: I did not know pirates had such good dental insurance, were so polite and nice to women and had such good moral standards. I did not know that. I also did not know they had some 'top agents' in the field who secretly gathered 'intelligence' on their adversaries. It's the frikkin' PIA (you'll figure it out).

The Strain Season 1 Episode 8: Creatures of the Night

5 second plot: The CDC doctors coincidentally team up with rat guy. They were both looking for ultraviolet light. After they find it they all get stuck in a convenience store. The hacker chick is also there (coincidentally). Apparently the master isn't very happy about the fact that they hurt one of his favorite disciples (crazy Nazi guy). So he dispatches a whole bunch of vampires to the location.

5 second review: This episode is one big action thriller. They are stuck inside and the creatures try to get in. And quickly more and more of them arrive. The tension rises high and everyone gets to show his/her action skills.

5 second plot: Scarlett finds a key her father was looking for all his life. This is the key to finding the philosophers stone, which can give eternal life and cool stuff like that. They have to go in the Parisian catacombs to get to the next clue. Getting in is easy, but they quickly realize it's the getting out part that's going to be a bitch.

5 second review: If you're claustrophobic, you don't want to go near this movie. It's terrifyingly claustrophobic. It's got great clues and great history references (those catacombs are real!). It's like a small Da Vinci Code. And it's creepy as hell (just wait for it).

The Two Faces of January gets interesting eventually

5 second plot: In Athens, a crooked investment banker accidentally kills a private detective that was sent to have him pay his debt. Lucky for him he made a friend that same day that can get him a new passport and out of there quickly. This friend is mostly interested in his money. And his wife. A little bit.

5 second review: The first half of the movie is too relaxed. They just walk around, having a good time. While they should be panicking like crazy. But in the second half it gets interesting. Two men (one paranoid as hell) and one beautiful woman together on the run? That's asking for trouble.

Extant Season 1 Episode 9 and 10: Care and Feeding and A Pack of Cards

5 second plot: The offspring is on the run. It's using Sparks to get away and to help it get stronger. Yasumoto is trying to get to it by using Molly and her family. Ethan is becoming friends with the guy that wants to see him destroyed.

5 second review: We get to see a bit through the eyes of the offspring but I would really like to see the little critter itself by now. We get a little bit of a glimpse but it's not much. It hasn't made a lot of friends since it got to earth. Maybe it's going to be a showdown between alien-baby and robot-boy. Or maybe they hook up and kill us all.

IMDb score: 7,3/10 and 6,7/10

The November Man is full of surprises

5 second plot: An ex-CIA killer is re-activated to extract a spy, who happens to be the love of his life. But she gets killed. He goes after the boys and girls that did it but runs into a whole lot more trouble than he bargained for. Old school Russian-American politics kinda trouble.

5 second review: This movie brings you right back to the good old spy movie days, without being too repetitive. Okay, maybe some cliches are tackled, but that's part of the deal: the good spy guy always gets the girl. I especially liked the fast moving action sequences. With a highlight when Olga Kurylenko hits her adversary right in the face with a big shovel. Auch, that's gotta hurt.
