The Skeleton Twins is not very uplifting
5 second plot: Just before Maggie tries to kill herself she gets a call from a hospital to inform her that her twin brother (who she hasn't spoken to in 10 years) almost killed himself. They try to figure out how they got where the are and try to make life better for each other.
5 second review: The central characters are solid. The performances are too. The story moves along slowly. We can see some progress and transformation here and there, but not a lot is going on. But it's still good. It's not boring. The only thing is: it's not going anywhere. Not really.

Honeymoon is not what I expected
5 second plot: Bea and Paul just got married and are spending their honeymoon in a family cottage in the woods. Everything is perfect but then one night Bea disappears and when she returns she starts acting weird.
5 second review: This is one of those movies that keeps you guessing until the very end. A couple of smart-asses will probably have a clue three quarters in, but you simply can't be sure. This long wait creates an expectation. And it's a big expectation. I was expecting the devil himself to rise from the underworld bringing all sorts of mayhem with him. But that's not quite what happens. So it was a bit of a bummer.

Revenge of the Green Dragons is funny looking
5 second plot: Two young Chinese boys arrive in Queens, New York in 1983. It doesn't take long for them to get recruited by the baddest boys in town: the Green Dragons. The sweet kids turn into bad-ass criminals overnight (well, almost).
5 second review: These '80s criminals are funny looking. Why are they beating up little kids? I didn't really get it. This is a cheap ass movie. Don't waste your time with it. And don't be fooled by the 'Martin Scorsese' on the poster.

Extant Season 1 Episode 12: Before the Blood
5 second plot: Earth has lost contact with the spaceship. Molly is trying to figure out what is going on. In the spaceship everybody (well, there is only one guy) is happy to see Katie again, but we, the viewers, can sense that something's up. Ethan almost blows up the lab. And Molly finally meets her alien boy.
5 second review: Finally! We get the see the little bugger. He looks awesome. Really sweet kid with eyes that glow. It was about time this show started picking up speed. There's only one episode left and a lot of riddles left unsolved. Please oh please don't let this be a cliffhanger ending.

The Strain Season 1 Episode 9: The Disappeared
5 second plot: Eph goes looking for his family. He finds his son, but also runs into his ex-wife's boyfriend who turned into a vampire. Hacker-girl informs Setrakian about her involvement in the internet melt-down. And we get some more back-ground info on the master and the origin story of the German super-vamp.
5 second review: They are taking their sweet time to get to it. They even have time for some smoochin'. By now the entire city will have turned into bloodsuckers. I have a question: how much can these bloodsuckers eat? They are hungry all the frikkin' time. We finally get to see the master, which is cool. And about time. But his hands look kinda 'rubbery', don't they?

The Longest Week looks familiar
5 second plot: Conrad is a 40-year old guy who lives off of his parents' wealth. One day they cut him off. All of a sudden he is broke and homeless. He's got a good friend who lets him stay in his house. But then Conrad falls in love with the woman his friend was already interested in. And things get complicated.
5 second review: I seriously thought I was watching a Woody Allen movie. The setting, the talks, the backgrounds, the hotel lobby music,.. the style is identical. Or is this just me? The first part of the movie is pretty great. But then suddenly the fun is over and there doesn't seem to be anything interesting left to say. Thank god Olivia Wilde was there to lighten the mood.

The Remaining is a promo for God
5 second plot: A group of friends is having a good time on a wedding when all of a sudden people start dropping dead for no apparent reason. They figure out quite quickly that it must be 'the rapture'. This is an event where God pulls all the believers' souls to heaven. And the rest of humanity is screwed basically.
5 second review: There are some good special effects in here and some spectacular action sequences. But it seems like they couldn't decide whether to make a found footage movie or a blockbuster movie. So the quality of the film is somewhere in between and that's just not good. Also, if you're not a big fan of God promo, you might want to skip this one. Because they say 'I choose God' a lot.

Falcon Rising is pretty terrible
5 second plot: An American tough guy travels to Rio de Janeiro to find (and hurt) the guys that almost killed his sister.
5 second review: Man, these Yakuza dudes pop up everywhere nowadays. Jesus. This is a straight to DVD action movie like the ones from back in the day. Only this one's not very good. I can't seem to find one single positive thing to say about it.

Extant Season 1 Episode 11: A New World
5 second plot: Dead bodies keep piling up. The offspring doesn't like to feel threatened, so it seems. Sparks and his wife are still helping it. Molly is also in pursuit. We find out more about Yasumoto. He is a really old fella who is running out of magical life juice. He very much wants to get a hold of the offspring's power. And he'll do anything to get it.
5 second review: I'm just hoping that the conclusion of this season will not be a disappointment. Because I can already feel it... They keep the viewer out of the loop for way too long. This only makes my expectation grow even larger. But it could mean that they don't know what they're doing and we will be left with a bummer (or even will simply be left hanging). I have a bad feeling about this.

Black Sails Season 1 Episode 1: I.
5 second plot: It's the story of a group of pirates wreaking havoc in 1715.
5 second review: I did not know pirates had such good dental insurance, were so polite and nice to women and had such good moral standards. I did not know that. I also did not know they had some 'top agents' in the field who secretly gathered 'intelligence' on their adversaries. It's the frikkin' PIA (you'll figure it out).
